Google Cookie Monster Doodle

Being a smart cookie isn’t about the knowledge you have, it is about how you apply it. All blogs have RSS feeds that allow you to subscribe to a blog and have the articles sent directly to your email or Google Reader account.

Here are some smart applications for Google Alerts:

  • Setup a Google Alert for your name. -This way you know if someone is talking about you.
  • Setup a Google Alert for your idols, competitors, companies you want to word for, etc, so you know what is going on and have material for a conversation with/about them.
  • Be alerted about any subject/keyword on any website:  “keyword” Site:www.sitename.com
  • Shopping for something? You can do this for Ebay, Craigslist, Amazon, or any other site: “item keyword”  Site:www.ebay.com -This will keep you from checking these websites everyday.
